U.S. Global Entry Now Has an App

In a move aimed at streamlining international travel, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has launched a new smartphone app to speed up the customs clearance process for travelers enrolled in the Global Entry program.

The Mobile Application will initially be available for use by travelers arriving at: Seattle Tacoma International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, Miami International Airport, Orlando International Airport, Washington Dulles International Airport, Pittsburgh International Airport, and George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

The app incorporates facial biometric technology, enabling travelers to take a selfie, which will be compared to a database to verify their identity. After successful verification, a receipt is generated within the app. Upon reaching the primary inspection area at the airport, travelers can forego the traditional Global Entry portals and proceed directly to CBP officers. There, they can display the app’s receipt to expedite their entry into the United States.

To avail of this new feature, travelers must be participants in the Global Entry program, which offers benefits like quicker customs clearance and eliminates the need for paperwork. Enrollment in the program costs $100 and lasts for five years, with an application process that includes an interview with a CBP agent.

The Global Entry Mobile Application is now available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store..
